“Some voices find you early, shaping the way you hear the world. For me, it was Edith Piaf’s raw intensity, Charles Aznavour’s storytelling, and Boris Vian’s sharp, dark humor that first pulled me into the world of chanson. It wasn’t until much later that I discovered Barbara—a voice unlike any I had known” - Caroline Ferrara, exerpt from the intro of the Barbara Project
Where Piaf’s singing is weighty, expressive, and dramatic, Barbara’s is like a fine thread of embroidery—delicate, intricate, and deeply intimate. Her phrasing is restrained yet precise, drawing you in rather than overwhelming you. Her songs feel like intimate confidences, but shared through images and memories. With just her voice and the piano, she could create entire worlds of longing, memory, and quiet defiance.
This project is Caroline’s way of stepping into that world—not to imitate, but to explore. Through music, words, and personal interpretation, she wants to trace the emotional landscapes Barbara painted, to understand what makes her songs linger long after the last note fades. It’s a journey through subtlety, melancholy, and the quiet force of a voice that, once heard, is never forgotten.
This project will come to life on stage in November 2025, with performances to be announced soon
